I am almost always a fan of classic, neutral kitchens and love to punch up the space with vibrant accessories and textiles. But lately I am spotting so many gorgeous kitchens with aqua cabinetry! Balanced with lots of natural wood and white it can be such a warm, calming and unexpected color choice. Soft, watery aqua also looks fantastic paired with gray and white marble countertops. 

So what do you think. . . . color overload or refreshing beauty?

Singapore Decorating: A Colorful & Quirky Boost

Adding that final layer of accessories and art is without a doubt my favorite part of the design process. . . like the icing on the cake! My client's lovely but serene living room {with components above} looks great but now we are aiming to add an extra boost with pops of vibrant color, casual bohemian details and lots of fun pattern. The art is all from Society 6, I adore their quirky but beautifully curated collection {and they even ship to us in Singapore!}. The pillows are all handmade by Etsy vendors, PopOColor and Whitlock & Co are two of my go-to spots.  I can't wait to see it all come together.

Drool Worthy Kitchen: Vintage Mediterranean Style

I spend a lot of time scanning blogs, Pinterest, product sites and online mags but sometimes a image just stops you dead in your tracks! I am so in love with this vintage inspired Mediterranean kitchen designed by JHID {Jessica Helgerson Interior design}. Located in Portland OR, this home is actually part of an apartment complex which was originally built in 1926. The black, white, brown and brass color palette is simple yet so dynamic and I love the way JHID brought a modern edge to this classic style. I also think the layout of the kitchen to include a library nook is so cozy and practical {the kitchen really is the heart of the home!} The chic black and white Moroccan tile floors and the vintage gloss black stove are also just amazing.

InstaTravels: 48 Hours in Hong Kong

Hi all! We are just back from an amazing weekend in Hong Kong - what a creative, vibrant and beautiful city. After almost four years in Asia it was really our first visit and it was worth the wait. I loved the gritty, hectic pace of life here and the incredible landscape, the skyscrapers seem to just grow right from the lush jungle below - so inspiring! The city is full of art galleries, vintage stores and edgy boutiques but the night life is pretty fantastic too.  Here are a few of my favorite HK Instagram moments. . . .

Dark + Stormy: Deep Blue Walls

I am working on a sophisticated and manly bedroom for a client here and we decided to the walls in a rich, saturated blue. I am so excited about the idea of a dark and dusty wall color for a bedroom - it just envelops and surrounds you! I think the key to balancing these dramatic walls is to pair them with fresh, white bedding and to paint the trim and ceiling a clean white as well. Also be sure to select a paint with a matte finish, anything shiny will be overwhelming!
