Design-wise, bathrooms can certainly be a tough nut to crack! Due to all the plumbing and electrical needs, they are usually very expensive to remodel and due to their tight quarters, hard to update with any furniture. The solution . . . wallpaper! Wallpaper is an affordable way to add life and color to your bath. You can take a chance a bold pattern, usually the bath is too small for anything to be too overwhelming. Below are some of my favorites!

Amanda Nisbet designed this lady like bathroom clad in a paper by Manuel Canovas for Cowtan & Tout. The metallic poof seat is also a fun touch! 

An airy bathroom in Nantucket is so inviting with a wood painted sloped ceiling and walls inHinson's Spatter paper - a true classic! The sheer cafe curtains give privacy but still allow in all the light. Designed by Tom Scheerer, photo by Simon Upton.

An updated toile and lots of rich mossy green make this bathroom. The traditional medicine cabinet was replaced by a simple mirror perched on the wainscotting. The paper is L'Ile Des Lanternes, the photo I spotted on Housetohome.uk!

This fabulous marbleized wallpaper from Phesant by Twigs brings this bath to life. Note how cleverly designer Todd Klein trimmed the edges in deep red! It reminds of fancy Italian stationary :)

A bathroom I did for a client in a charming apartment in brownstone in Brooklyn Heights. I think the modern damask was just the thing to break up all the white! (Sorry the photo is not great!)

Chateau Living

After living down the street from the stunning Chateau de Fontainebleau for almost a month now, I feel pretty spoiled. Even from the outside, the proportions and the architectural details are so beautiful and classic. Since sadly, I will have to leave, I found myself searching for chateau inspired interiors which might let me take some of this style home! I think these rooms are wonderful - all traditional and certainly a bit French but with modern bent which makes them livable for today! 

A bath by Steven Shubel in House Beautiful. Amazing golden orange color he found for the walls!

A cozy yet stately family room by Cathy Kinkaid. The sisal carpeting and floral sofa help lighten up the space. 

The dining room in designer Amanda Nisbet's own New York home -  I think the table setting is fantastic (especially like the touch of the pale blue taper candles!).

A dining area from Living Ect. (designer not noted unfortunately) The contemporary table and chair, along with the whitewashed floors, really give the space a modern and breezy feel.

A luxurious master bedroom by Michael Smith, featured in Architectural Digest. The wall covering is by Brunschwig & Fils and the bed is a 19th century Italian antique.
