While they might have got their start as a scientific tools, I love all of the glass bell jars I am seeing in interiors these days. They are a great way to add a bit of industrial modern style to your space and are so versatile - you can fill them a small sculpture or momento, fruit, foliage, a potted plant or anything really! Bell jars, also known as cloches, are also perfect for switching up your decor for the season or as a table top centerpiece for parties.

Current Obsession: Oversized Green Glass

Lately I am crazy over the large, blown green glass I am spotting. I love the luminous, organic and imperfect quality of the glass and of course the color. I especially like how these oversized pieces look in a white, minimal interior - it just lets them shine a little bit more. . . .

So pretty and unexpected on top of the fridge! The warmth of the vases and the wicker baskets beautifully balance all of the stainless steel.

Artist Spotlight: Joe Cariati Glass

I spotted these stunning rainbow bright glass vessels in Vouge Living Australia but was surprised to find they are actually created by an L.A. based artist Joe Cariati- I love how global the design world is these days! I adore the smooth, modern shapes and clean, jewel colored hues of these lovely pieces. Sometimes with accessories, one bold element goes much father than lots of little items - and these glass beauties are a perfect example!

These cloches are so unique and would be stunning as is or filled with a plant or favorite keepsake.

One of Joe's gorgeous teal pieces even makes a cameo in Sex and the City 2. I love it with those metallic elongated lamps, shaped mirror, and fantastic chocolate printed wallpaper! If I could have only one, it would surely be this lovely! Which one would you pick?

Historically Modern: Emerald Glass

One my favorite inspirations in design is the inevitable link to the past. Especially since I came into the design world through a degree in the history of decorative art, I am so inspired when I see objects from so long ago which would are so perfectly in style and current today!

I fell in love with the above bowl from the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass; the beautiful translucent deep green glass bowl was created sometime between the 9th and 10th centuries in Western Asia, likely in Iran. I love the scalloped edge, embossed motif featuring birds (also so in right now!) and of course the stunning color. Even though this bowl is at least 1,000 years old it would be amazing in an interior today - just as it is!


Here are a few modern pieces I loved as a way to bring emerald glass into your home - as I am pretty certain the Corning Museum wont be letting this beauty go any time soon!
