Heavenly Halls!

Friday, May 20, 2011

Its easy to focus all of our decorating energy on the public spaces of our home and forget the smaller connecting spaces! Well, hallways are a great place to inject personality and style into your home.  Bursts of color, pattern, and chic details are such an unexpected surprise in a hall. Usually you are working with tight quarters - but with a few clever solutions these halls can really make a statement!

A little furniture grouping like the chest, light pendant, and mirror {image above} - or even a small chair - makes the hall feel more like a room. And the vibrant wall paper here is so much fun! {via}

A bold striped rug adds lots of visual interest to this hall {via}

This space is already lovely with big windows and herringbone floors but the contrast of the black wainscoting and the fancy chandelier really add drama! {via}

Punchy geometric tiled floors in brown and white make the most of a simple hallway {via}

These decorative corbel brackets give the space so much architectural style - and I love the oversized light pendant! {via}

Designer Jonathan Berger used shocking pink walls to give energy to this entry hall in a Brooklyn brownstone {via House Beautiful}

Ticking stripe wall paper {or maybe its fabric!} looks great in this slightly awkward hall! {via}

A picture gallery is a great way to decorate a hall - I love how Steven Gambrel uses all deep red frames to unify everything! {via Canadian House and Home}

These dreamy floor length portiere curtains make a regular hall feel so romantic - keeping this one in my inspiration file! {via}

Lastly, this charming but narrow entry hall uses a wonderful soft green blue paint, a lively patterned runner and a creative chalkboard to welcome visitors! The paint color is Palladium Blue by Ben Moore by the way! {via}

Do you have any chic hallway decorating tips to share?
