Color Theory 101: Yellow!

Thursday, August 4, 2011

It is so amazing how deeply color can affect us! Yellow is the color of sunshine and is most quickly associated with joy, happiness, intellect, energy. Yellow arouses cheerfulness and produces a warming effect, it energizes and stimulates mental activity. Lighter shades evoke freshness and playfulness, however dull or dirty tones of yellow can signal caution, sickness or jealousy. For more theory about yellow, visit here!

Whether or not you believe in color theory - you can certainly see yellow's bright and lively personality in these beautiful interiors! I love it tempered with lots of whites or neutrals - just a burst of yellow goes such a long way.

Which is your favorite pop of yellow? I adore that glossy yellow front door!

Love it as a bold, bright, cheerful colour. I currently have a yellow vintage blanket on me bed as a throw, and the happy colour makes me smile everytime I walk in the room.

Loving those saffron yellow silk (I think) curtains in image 7 too!

I love yellow although for some reason I don't have much of it in my home! Maybe I should paint the front door :)
