This week I was so happy to share my recently re-vamped childhood bedroom on House of Turquoise! Erin shared where the printed bed pillows and embroidered lumbar pillow were from, but I wanted to tell a bit more how we put it together...
* First, we had the four post bed and chair re-painted. They were previously in shades of pink and purple but we loved the shape of the bed so we had a local painter use a matte mocha paint with a soft white-wash finish on top!
* We got this pair of mirrors from Target {such a good deal!} it's shown here in a gold finish but ours are in antiqued bronze.
* The solid blue silk pillows I found at Target also! I loved the bit of sheen that they had. I like to use multiple shades of the same color in a space. Never try to match colors exactly - a layered look is much more sophisticated and easier to achieve too!
* The stacked ball lamps are also a Target find {they have some great pieces!} I liked their traditional look but and I picked rectangular shades for a more modern touch. Switching out lampshades can give a plain lamp a custom feel.
* I found the piece of white coral at Pottery Barn {this one is similar} and placed on top of a black wooden platform to give it a bit more presence.
I love the serene feel of the space but I would have liked to add a few more accessories! I had to return to Singapore before I could, but here is my wish list of added pieces for in here:
This vintage brass and lucite clock would look great next to the bed
I love the texture of these faux shagreen frames!
Now primarily used as a guest room, it's lovely to have a place for fresh flowers - they are always so welcoming. This vintage Nelson McCoy aqua vase would be a perfect addition.
I love the space over the headboard being open, but this framed oil painting would be perfect leaning against the wall one of the bedside tables. I love how it has just a touch of aqua in it!
Hope you enjoyed my tips! Have a wonderful day!
XOXO
