I love a fireplace mantel! Whether the fireplace is functional or just for decorative effect, a mantle provides a wonderful focal point for the room and is the perfect place for a vignette of art or favorite objects and is a great way show off your personal style.
I have sadly not yet lived in a home with a mantle of my own {and certainly a mantle is a bit unusual here in steamy Singpore} but it is definitely on my wish list! Today, I think I would fill mine with potted orchids, small pieces we've pick up on our travels and maybe some glass vases or bottles. . . oh, and a small oil painting or print - but next week I might style it all over again.
That's the best part - you can rotate your mantle's decorative touches as often as you want!
I love the mantle framed by olive green walls with the mod lamp and small black and white painting. Which is your favorite?
How would you style yours at home?

Ooh, these are all great but I really love the last one. Perfect mix of colors + styles for me. We have a very unusal situation in that we don't have a mantle but a hearth that is suspended like a shelf below our fireplace. Since it is precisely at dog tail swatting level, it sits undecorated. Sadness.
I love the 4th one! It's simple and beautiful!

I am loving the third room pictured! I would never dream of pairing those pieces and colors together, but that sitting area is so lovely and clean. That's the greatest thing about looking to others for design inspiration: it forces you to think outside of your comfort zone and embrace the unexpectedly gorgeous.
There's not much I love more than a beautifully styled fireplace. The first fireplace itself is BEYOND gorgeous...love all of these!
The 4th one is the most like my style- I like how it's simple and balanced, but still makes a statement. I'm so happy to finally live in a house with a mantle! I just wish I could give it a complete makeover so that it would reflect my style. Unfortunately we're renting so I have to live with it the way it is. Still, it's fun to have!
Wish I had a mantle - seeing no one in Denmark has a fireplace - hardly no mantels around - used to love my London ones.
Here I adore the 2nd.
Happy thursday Allison,

I like the decor on the 4th one, but I love the fireplace itself in the 3rd picture.
I love that white one with the black and white prints. So clean! Love this post... inspiring photos. Makes me what to go redecorate mine!

The fourth is my favorite
Gorgeous inspiration you have compiled here!! I love every single image, going to have to save a couple to my inspiration files for sure!! Hugs,

Oh if only I had a mantle to play with . . . I don't have one in the house I rent, but I'm seriously considering getting one of those little portable gas fireplaces just so I can build a mantle around it in my basement rec room. I don't know how I'd style it, other than the fact that I would use it as my canvas for experimenting with decorating for every possible occasion and season :)
I love the last one too - I think because of all the contrasts. We have a fireplace in our house here, but no mantel and I really miss it! The next house...:)
With an antique Venetian Mirror on top and tons of blinged out baubles I've thrifted since childhood...the mantle seems to be such a statement piece...why go small right?? :D
Thank you for visiting my blog, hope to see you back sometime!
