Spring Color Inspo: Blush

Pink is the new neutral? This spring season beautiful blush seems to be everywhere. While I am usually wary of pink when decorating spaces other than children's rooms, I really love the warmth and earthiness that blush can bring. The key is to select a dusty, subtle blush (my all time favorite paint color is Pink Ground by Farrow & Ball) and to balance the blush tones with a few dark accents in black, charcoal, ink blue or chocolate. Here are a few inspirations to prove that blush can be sophisticated. . .

Sunny Singapore Design: Coronation Drive

Today I am so happy to share this fresh, vibrant home I finished up a few months back. The clients have 3 adorable young boys so along with style, durability and comfort were certainly on the wish list! A palette of whites, sand, wood hues and wide range of lovely blues runs throughout the whole house. Thank you to my amazing clients - I loved working on this one!

An oversized photograph of Bondi Beach by Jarrod Corbett creates a fresh but sophisticated focal point for the dining room. He is one of my favorite Etsy finds (you can see his pieces here!)

A custom made bench and pewter coats hook helps organize a busy hallway!

My client had the great idea to hang all these frames using 3M velcro strips! Not only is there no damage to the walls but the frames are so stable and stay perfectly in place (even when say, hit by a errant soccer ball :)

Especially in homes with little ones, I love an upholstered ottoman in place of a coffee table. No sharp edges to worry about and lots of extra space to spread out. This one adds a fun element of pattern in a Robert Allen printed linen.

We wanted the master bedroom to be a calming, peaceful space but made sure that rich indigo and plenty of pattern kept it from feeling washed out.

Hope you enjoyed touring this home as much I did working on it!

Color Inspiration: Mustard

This year I love the unexpected yellows I am seeing in my design feeds. Dusty, golden, mustard yellow is certainly not considered the most glamorous tone but when used the right way it can be so earthy, comforting and surprisingly light! The key is to limit the mustard hues to a single element and to balance it with plenty of neutrals and wood tones. I especially love these first two images as proof that cozy mustard can look at home even in warmer climates!

Here are a few of my top retail picks of the moment for bringing mustard into your space:

Textiles Make the Room

I am a firm believer than textiles and accessories can really make the room. In this fab California home by Amber Interiors, the stunning use of vintage and ethnic textiles adds such color, depth, pattern and texture. By keeping the rest of the spaces breezy and simple, with clean lines, white walls and lots of mid century pieces, the textiles really pop! I just love this eclectic look, what do you think?

{This might be the most charming and stylish nursery ever!}

And for those in the market for a few - my go to secret source for great vintage inspired textiles is Urban Outfitters Home and Anthropolgie Home! Who knew?
