Today I am so happy to be guest posting on Kristy's beautiful blog, Hyphen Interiors
Please visit me there to see my favorite inspirations for holiday entertaining and decorating in the tropics!

The winter holiday season can be lovely and festive even if there are palm trees instead of pines outside your window!

Daydreaming: Sunny Living Room

Sigh, today I wish I was working from here! The rustic stone walls, beautiful wood beams, cozy sofa and gorgeous light streaming in the windows add up to the perfect cozy fall interior for me.
How about for you?

Southwest Chic Roundup

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Last week I posted on the Southwest trend in interiors and while there are some beautiful inspirations out there, you can also spot lots of examples of a good trend gone bad! So I decided to round up some lovely Southwest pieces that you can add to your interior without having to move out West or start wearing cowboy boots!

I love the vibrant hues of this printed throw pillow, available here on Etsy

The rustic soft aqua glaze on these nesting bowls is so pretty. I love how they look stacked and they would be great for serving too! From Hodaka Pottery

These geometric wood chargers from Wolfum are a bit Southwest inspired but still mod and very cool!
I love this silvery-gray wool throw from Pendleton - it looks so cozy and soft

The oversized scale of this woven pillow gives it a fresh feel. And what a great the subtle color combo too!

This is actually a Turkish kilim rug, but its pattern and color palette reminded me of the Southwest. It would look so great layered over a larger sisal rug too!

I hope these chic pieces have given you a little more Southwest inspiration. I think in moderation, any trend can work in your interior!

Inspired Turquoise Dresser

Friday, November 25, 2011

I love the freshness and airy beauty of this living room! It is eclectic without feeling cluttered and I was especially taken with that vibrant turquoise painted dresser in the back. Sometimes one unexpected and gorgeous pop of color can make an entire interior! It would be a fabulous DIY for a sad, older looking piece or I found these beauties below on Etsy. . .

What do you think . . . a lovely pop or just too bold? Would you add a turquoise chest to your interior?

Have a wonderful and relaxing holiday weekend!

House Tour: Old World Chic in Chicago

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

I pretty much love everything about this warm and eclectic Chicago apartment photographed by Roland Bello. The color palette of olive, ivory, rich browns and black is so striking and I love the layered, European sophistication each space has. These are not interiors you put together in a week but are built up over time and travels {or at least I like to imagine them that way!} The quirky touches are also wonderful - the hard hat on the marble bust is so charming and hanging coats instead of a shower curtain in the guest bath is brilliant if you ask me!

And I think this cozy home would be just lovely for fall and holiday entertaining! Are there any details which catch your eye?

Wise Words!

Monday, November 21, 2011

I just love this quote and this image so much I had to share! Whether your style is minimalist or layered and collected - William Morris rings so true - just be sure to surround yourself with pieces you love and your interior will be a happy and peaceful place for you!

Trend Alert: Southwest Style

Friday, November 18, 2011

I know we have all been spotting a lot of Southwest inspired designs in fashion  . . . but what about for interiors? I love the vibrant, warm colors and natural textures but for me, it only works in small doses. I also love the contrast of a bit of Southwest rustic style combined with more polished pieces. Here are few images I thought were especially lively.
What do you think of the look?

Happy Weekend!

House Tour: Scandinavia Meets Asia

Thursday, November 17, 2011

One of the most lovely things my time living in Singapore, is all of the Asian design and visual inspiration I have found here! I especially love to think about blending West and East {an old but such a dynamic design concept!} This eclectic row house in Denmark does a beautiful job of uniting colorful Asian accents with a mod Danish sensibility. The young family collected all of these treasures on their trips throughout Asia - I adore the fresh and global result and am certainly saving this as inspiration for our home!

Love the mix of Western and Asian kitchen tools and pottery and the open shelving!

A beautiful display of fabric and paper covered decorative boxes - what a wonderful idea for a collection!

These basket and fans are just amazing! They look as if they could be Vietnamese to me, do any of you have a guess?

I don't know what it is about those Danes but it seems that their style is just effortlessly chic! Do you love it as much as me?
