Happy Holidays!

Friday, December 16, 2016

Sorry for my absence! I have been spending a wonderful few weeks in Seattle with my family and now on to Switzerland to celebrate the holidays with my hubby and his family. Looking forward to outdoor holiday markets, lights, cozy dinners and maybe a little snow! I hope your holidays are filled with happiness, family and loved ones!

With love, until next year . . .

Trend Spotting: Low Modular Sofas

Tuesday, October 18, 2016

Lately I have been loving this low, loungy look. Perhaps because with a wild 2 yr old, the softer and lower furniture can be the better, or because this style is just so inviting and cool! These chunky sofas can seem too heavy and retro, but I think when done in the proper proportions and accented with more delicate pieces, they can have a chic, modern vibe. One tip is to be sure to balance their low silhouette with some taller items close by to draw the eye up, such a standing lamp or potted plant. Do you think this look could work for you?

For those of you in the market, I adore this Living Edge Modular Sofa here and this Cube Article sofa here, or for more inspiration here is a fantastic retail roundup!

Dream Getaway: Halcyon House

Tuesday, October 11, 2016

We spend a wonderful week in Sydney last month {more on that later!} but while researching Australian hotels, I came across the amazing Halcyon House at Cabrita Beach. Located an hour outside Brisbane, in an old surfers motel, these costal yet refined interiors are gorgeous! Breezy, welcoming spaces filled with collected art and layers of patterned textiles creates the perfect beach getaway and looks more like a chic home than a hotel. And of course the spaces and unified by the endless shades of blue and white . . . . such a dream! I hope to make it to Cabrita Beach one day!

Design Daydreaming: A Modern Farmhouse

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Dear friends of ours recently bought a piece of land in the California wine country and we began chatting and day dreaming about the house they hope to build there one day. I love the endless possibilities and natural beauty of empty land! And when I happened upon this amazing modern farmhouse by Nick Noyes Architecture, I thought it was just perfect. I like the contrast of the clean, modern architecture with plenty of organic textures and a few traditional elements (like the pitched roof and the shiplaps ceiling).  The whole design beautifully integrates indoors and outdoors, with light filled rooms, open walkways and a gorgous backyard. It is at one time both so simple and so warm. I wonder what they will build in the end . . . happy day dreaming!

Trend Spotting: Slipcovered Beds

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

I am always on the lookout for fresh takes on classics, and lately I am loving the chic style of slipcovered bed frames. Upholstered beds are so inviting and lend such a softness to a sleeping space, but can feel out of place in a more modern interior - but slipcovered beds are the prefect blend of traditional comfort and clean style. I especially like the causal but tailored vibe the covers give, and even embrace a few winkles! As an added bonus the covers are easy to wash and change out. Here is some inspiration . . . .

For those in the market, Anthropologie and Restoration Hardware both carry beautiful slipcovered bed frames!
